SOHO Notes Tour: Networking

Share notes over a network with other users in your workgroup.

SOHO Notes can be used by individuals and workgroups alike. It is based on a commercial client-server database for high-performance and reliability. SOHO Notes makes sharing notes over a network easy. It even features advanced administration so various members of the workgroup can be assigned different levels of access.

Sharing Notes Made Easy
Shared DatabasesIndustry First
Create a shared database on your network (LAN or WAN) so other users in your workgroup can view, add, modify, and delete notes.

TIP. A shared database is perfect for meeting notes, confidential company documents, employee handbooks, approved artwork and logos, product plans, marketing campaign documents, etc.
Access LevelsIndustry First
The administrator of a shared database can assign different levels of access to the various members of your workgroup. Access is granted on per folder basis and there are four levels of access that can be assigned:

1. Read/Write.
2. Read-Only.
3. Write-Only (i.e. a "drop" folder).
4. None.
Open Multiple Databases SimultaneouslyIndustry First
SOHO Notes lets you work with multiple databases at once. This means you can access notes in your personal database at the same time you're accessing notes in your company database.

TIP. Drag and drop notes from one database to another to copy notes between databases.
Peform Spotlight Searches On Shared DatabasesIndustry First
Spotlight is designed to search for data on your local computer not other computers. That said, SOHO Notes makes sure that Spotlight knows about notes in shared databases to which you have access. This means you can use Spotlight to search both your personal and shared notes.
Offline SynchronizationIndustry First
If you access a shared database over a network at the office, when you leave the office you can take the shared data with you on your laptop. Any changes you make on your laptop while away from the office will automatically synchornize when you return.
