SOHO Labels Version History
Version 3.6.0
New Features
  • Added some Curved Text controls to the inspector window. Curved text can now be set to: Circular or Spiral. The spiral "rate" can be adjusted from "Slow" to "Fast". Spiral text works best with larger text boxes.
  • Added a "Print Label Outlines" setting to the Preferences dialog. Previously, this setting was in the Print dialog, but it interfered with Leopard's print preview feature
  • Added a "Crop To Labels" setting to the Preferences dialog. This setting should be normally enabled when printing directly onto a CD/DVD, but can be disabled for other label types.
  • Added stepper buttons next to the font size field in the inspector window. This makes it much easier to resize text.
Key Improvements
  • Label documents have the option of printing page numbers and the current date at the bottom of each page. These settings are now ON by default (but can be turned off using the Options button at the bottom of the window in Preview mode).
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when printing documents with images whose settings (hue, saturation, image effects, etc.) had been changed. This only occurred under Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when printing a label with a large background image (where the background image resolution exceeded the Print Quality preference)
  • Changed the name of the "Contacts" tab on the side of the window to "Fields".
Version 3.5
New Features
  • Added a circular text feature. The angle of the text is user adjustable and the text can be drawn "inside" or "outside" of the circle.
  • Added zip code sorting for contacts. When sorting by zip codes, the codes are displayed in the contact list. This option can be selected via the Preferences window.
Key Improvements
  • When disc labels are printed, the content is now clipped to the printable area (this is important when printing directly onto discs)
  • When the search field was used to search for a particular contact before printing a label/envelope, the printed contact was actually the first one in the contact list rather than the selected contact -- fixed.
  • When text is UNLOCKED and edited in Preview mode, the font/size of the edited text would change -- fixed.
  • When a line of text was used to crop an image and a drop shadow was then applied, the entire graphic would draw black -- fixed.
  • When a GROUPED object was saved in the Favorites bin, dragging the group onto the design canvas would work correctly; however, double-clicking the group would cause problems -- fixed.
  • Fixed some window "jittering" when switching between Design and Preview modes.
  • Fixed some display problems where images with image effects applied would appear garbled at small sizes. This only happened under Leopard.

NOTE: there continue to be display problems related to images that have image effects applied when running under Leopard on an Intel-based Macintosh. These problems are caused by a bug in the Leopard system software. Apple is aware of this bug and they're working on a bug fix.
Version 3.0.0
New Features
  • Added support for Media Labels including CD & DVD labels, tray inserts, booklets, etc.
  • Added support for Seiko and Brother label printers.
  • Now reads ALL contact fields (including custom fields) from Address Book. These fields are listed in the Contact fields browser under "All Fields". There's a Reload All Fields command to reload the field list from Address Book.
Key Improvements
  • Leopard compatible
  • We now scan complete address strings for blank lines (double return/newline characters) and remove them.
  • Fixed a bug that caused barcodes to be incorrectly placed if there was more than one barcode on a given label/page.
  • High resolution images occasionally were drawn at low resolution -- fixed.
  • Standalone inspector windows were sometimes being incorrectly repositioned under the selected graphics (standalone inspectors shouldn't move) -- fixed.
  • Holding down the shift key while resizing a photo now ALWAYS keeps the photo correctly proportioned.
  • Photo objects (photos with a built-in mask for a transparent background) sometimes appeared with white backgrounds -- fixed.
  • EPS images aren't a native image format on Mac OS X although they can be displayed with the help of a converter. The converter is very slow so as soon as an EPS image is added to a design, we convert it to a PDF.
