Park City, Utah - December 19, 2005 -- Chronos LC today announced the release of SOHO Notes, the premier digital note-taking application for Mac OS X. SOHO Notes is designed for both individual and workgroup use and is the first networkable note manager of its kind on the platform. It is also a member of the new SOHO Organizer personal and business productivity suite and bears the "SOHO" moniker which identifies Chronos' acclaimed small office/home office series.
INTRODUCING SOHO NOTES...
SOHO Notes is the easiest way to capture, organize, and share personal and/or workgroup information. SOHO Notes lets users store almost anything including rich text notes, pdf's, images, movies, audio, web archives, bookmarks, and even files. Bookmark notes feature an integrated web browser so users can do their research from within SOHO Notes. With a single click, users can turn live web content into a permanent web archive so their research is preserved beyond the often short shelf-life of the Web. The built-in web browser is based on the Safari web engine and contains all the features users expect like built-in Google search, forward/backward buttons, history, etc.
SOHO Notes also includes features that make life easier like alarms, to-do lists, Safari-inspired tabs so multiple notes can be open simultaneously in a window, iPhoto integration, note linking, etc. Plus, users can grab content from any application using the system-wide contextual menu, the services menu, or by pressing a hot key. SOHO Notes doesn't even have to be running. It also sports FlashNote and QuickNote features for searching and creating notes in any application.
NETWORKABLE
SOHO Notes can be used by individuals and workgroups alike. It is based on a commercial client-server database for high-performance and reliability. SOHO Notes makes sharing notes over a network easy for workgroups. It features advanced administration so various members of the workgroup can be assigned different levels of access to the notes. Mobile users can even take shared notes with them when they disconnect from the network so they always have access to the shared information. When they reconnect to the network, all of their changes to the shared notes will automatically synchronize with the master shared database.
THE NEW STANDARD IN SYNCHRONIZATION
SOHO Notes sets the gold standard for synchronization among note managers, so users have access to their information everywhere. More specifically, it supports four different types of synchronization:
1) Multiple computer synchronizationIndustry First. Personal notes will automatically stay synchronized between multiple computers using a .Mac account (must be purchased separately).
2) Offline synchronizationIndustry First. Mobile users can detach from a shared database with all their data and synchronize their changes when they return to the office network.
3) Palm handheld synchronizationIndustry First. Users can keep their notes synchronized between their computer and Palm handheld.
4) iPod synchronizationIndustry First. Users can take their notes with them on their iPod. Long notes are automatically divided and linked into multiple smaller notes.
TIGHT SOHO ORGANIZER INTEGRATION
SOHO Notes is also a member of the new SOHO Organizer suite which consists of four applications: SOHO Contacts, SOHO Calendars, SOHO Notes, and SOHO Print Essentials. As a member of this suite, it integrates seamlessly with the other members. This means, for example, that phone call logs and notes in SOHO Contacts appear in SOHO Notes and vice versa. Likewise, notes can be linked to contacts from either application.
CORPORATE COUSINS
SOHO Notes and StickyBrain are corporate cousin products designed for different audiences. While they share a lot in common, SOHO Notes is aimed specifically at the small office/home office market and thus has features for multiple users and/or multiple computers. In particular, it lets workgroups share notes over a network and it lets users with multiple computers keep their personal notes synchronized.
